The medication can only be administered in the clinics that are REMS (risk evaluation and mitigation strategy) authorized.
Treatment involves 2 doses per week for the first 4 weeks, then 1 dose weekly for 4 weeks, then 1 dose every 2 weeks. Many patients experience benefit after a few weeks. Patients have to stay for 2 hours following administration as 40 – 50 % of patients have “dissociative experiences,” feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts and feelings, or from your circumstances.
