MEDICATION MANAGEMENT:

Oral treatment (PO):

  • Oral treatment (PO):
            a.  We use the full range  of medications available including the newest medications.
  • Where appropriate, we use long term injectables for patients who have trouble with compliance with oral medications.
  • Spravato is a newer treatment option contemplated for the treatment of resistant depression and acute suicidal ideation or behavior.

SPRAVATO:

Intranasal treatment for:

 1. Treatment resistant depression

2. MDD with suicidal thoughts or behaviors.

  • The medication can only be administered in the clinics that are REMS (risk evaluation and mitigation strategy) authorized.
  • Treatment involves 2 doses per week for the first 4 weeks, then 1 dose weekly for 4 weeks, then 1 dose every 2 weeks. Many patients experience benefit after a few weeks. Patients have to stay for 2 hours following administration as 40 – 50 % of patients have “dissociative experiences,” feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts and feelings, or from your circumstances.
